Rose of Sharon strives to meet the nutritional needs of each individual living in our home. Upon admission into our home, individuals are met by the Food Service department to review any specific preferences the new resident may have. In both formal and informal settings (Dining Committee and Residents Council) residents are encouraged to provide input to the meals they are served. Alternatively, residents are able to call the Food Service Manager or the Assistant Food Service Manager and request a meeting to review the menus at any time.
Menus are constantly modified to suit the Korean residents of our Home, with emphasis placed on the feedback provided. Both Korean and non-Korean entrée are offered at lunch and dinner and are presented to the resident, allowing them the opportunity to see the meals offered, prior to making their choice. The menus are changed twice yearly (Summer and Winter) and reviewed by a Registered Dietician to ensure we are meeting guidelines set out by Canada’s Food Guide and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. The Registered Dietician is in the home weekly and provides valuable nutritional support for our residents.
The foodservices department at R.O.S is comprised of Certified Dietary Aides and Cooks. The staffs are dedicated to providing quality meals and pleasurable dining experiences for our residents, and this is achieved through continuous quality auditing, staff meetings, and in-service education.
